At a time that many of us are experiencing smoke in the air for the west coast wildfires, it seemed very timely to learn more about this newest technology from the impressive team at Volvo. This advanced air cleaning technology is another revolutionary accomplishment for this brand, and is due to be integrated into the XC90 and XC60 Series SUVs next year.

I have become a personal fan of the Swedish auto brand, as they have been introducing beautiful cars and SUVs that manage to stand out from the competition in each class. There has been a lot of ups and downs for this car company, but August 2020 figures show a 7% global sales growth, which is great news for them. Their innovation and very distinct styling has blended together seamlessly to drive this brand forward.

“With our Advanced Air Cleaner technology, you can rest assured that the air you breathe inside your Volvo is cleaner and healthier,” said Anders Löfvendahl, senior technical expert on cabin air quality at Volvo Cars.

This is an industry first car feature, and it should further help them to differentiate themselves from the competition. This new advanced air cleaning technology works through a sensor that measures PM2.5 levels inside the car’s cabin. Thanks to a synthetic fibre-based filter and ionisation, up to 95% of all those pesky PM2.5 particles are kept out of your lungs.

This feature is fitted on 2021 model year Volvos, and is based on their Scalable Product Architecture that includes the Volvo XC90 and all their XC60 series models. I think this will strongly resonate with family buyers, and also send all other car manufacturers scrambling to play catch up.

One of the best features of this new technology is the ability to tap into the Volvo On Call smartphone app and schedule a car cabin cleaning before your next drive. This is where the blend of wellness and luxury come together perfectly and offer something that you cannot find in any other luxury autos in the market currently.
