LuxeGetaways Magazine – Spring 2017 | From the moment you arrive, The Breakers Palm Beach will impress the most discerning of guests with the amazing architecture, first-class services and endless amenities. With 140 acres of pristine acreage in the heart of Palm Beach, The Breakers has remained one of the most iconic properties in the United States for well over 100 years. After burning down twice in the early years, it was rebuilt to exceed the expectations of even the great Henry Flagler; who had a vision for the role that this hotel would play in the development and long-term growth of Palm Beach.
The continued excitement surrounding The Breakers Palm Beach is largely due to the dedication of the longstanding family’s ownership and determination to maintain the property’s integrity, and always looking to the future. $25 million has been invested annually in recent years for capital improvements and ongoing revitalization to preserve (and modernize) this monumental piece of Florida history.
The Breakers features 540 rooms and suites; 36 holes of championship golf; 10 Har-Tru tennis courts; luxury spa; a breathtaking oceanfront with a half-mile of private beach, Mediterranean-style beach club; four oceanfront pools; a Family Entertainment Center; eight distinctive restaurants and eight bars; and an array of on-site boutiques. Arriving to The Breakers, you immediately realize you are in a place unlike anywhere else. Though there are many reasons to visit The Breakers Palm Beach, here are our top five reasons to plan your own getaway.
1. Beach Club Bungalows
The Beach Club and the multiple pools make a great retreat along the beach. The South Pool is a favorite because of the location and mix of ages relaxing in and around the pool: and these Bungalows are some of the best in Florida with a dedicated concierge and nice overall setup with seating inside and out – complete with a television inside, bathroom, shower and more. (Ask for #25, when available!).
2. Flagler Club
A “hotel-within-a-hotel,” Flagler Club provides an entirely new level of exclusivity for guests within these newly renovated 25 rooms and suites. The personalized team here goes above and beyond to cater to their guests from start to finish – all in a very glamorous and boutique setting. This experience is the best of both worlds: complete access to the resort and its amenities, then retreat to your private floor, replete with additional amenities and one-of-a-kind perks.
3. Flagler Steakhouse
Though many of the dining options at The Breakers are fantastic, Flagler Steakhouse is simply a must-experience during the stay. Located down the picturesque palm-lined drive, this classic American chophouse is upstairs from the golf clubhouse, and provides a dynamic menu with exceptional service. Enjoy the meal inside while dining under the dramatic beamed ceiling, or outside on the terrace while watching the golfers battle The Ocean Course.
4. Golf
Golf is a ritual at The Breakers. The Ocean Course is on the property, and is historically significant as it was Florida’s first 18-hole course. About 10-miles away, The Breakers Rees Jones® Course is worthy of the time spent getting to the club. Both courses are only open to resort guests and members, so they both make you feel like you are a member for the day.
5. The Spa
After a complete renovation, this new spa is perfection. Every detail is executed beautifully in a posh yet very comfortable environment. An extensive list of body, hair, nail and beauty services are available to guests, and everyone is encouraged to finish the spa experience on the exclusive spa terrace for a few added minutes of pure bliss. For best results, take advantage of the Signature Spa Suite Experience (for one, or two guests) with the specialty Tammy Fender or OSEA treatments.
