SLS Baha Mar hosted the 1st edition of Taste of sbe Bahamas. Here’s how it went down… There was an important moment this past month for the most recent establishment of the very hip and chic SLS brand. Shortly after its sister properties SLS South Beach and SLS Beverly Hills hosted their own Taste of sbe events, the brand-new, swanky SLS Baha Mar held its inaugural event, complete with international DJS, celebrities, star chefs, over-the-top parties, and culinary extravaganzas.

The chief objectives were to party, and to enjoy great food and amazing beverages, but the event also served to promote the chefs who are behind the SLS brand. Their hotels (SLS Las Vegas, SLS Brickell, SLS South Beach, and SLS Beverly Hills) have many things in common: most feature Philippe Starck designs; all are sexy, bold, and busy; and they generally have a strong focus on gastronomy. It was thus quite natural to create a three-day event at their most popular SLS properties to showcase what the hotel group is all about. And because SLS Baha Mar is the newest addition to the group and also their first international location, no expense was spared to impress the guests who made the trip to the Bahamas for the party. And here is what happened at the very first edition of Taste of sbe Bahamas 2018

A giant open-air food court with SLS star chefs…

The chefs of SLS Baha Mar (including Michael Schwartz, Katsuya Uechi, Danny Elmaleh, and Dario Cecchini) prepared sample menus in an impressive outdoor food court where guests enjoyed cocktails, bubbly, and live entertainment, got to meet and greet with the chefs, and appreciated food tastings and live demonstrations. Chef Katsuya fileted a whole fish live in front of the invitees, who promptly had a taste—it doesn’t get any fresher than this!

A private party hosted by Bob Sinclair…

The international superstar DJ hosted a private party on Friday night to launch the festivities of Taste of sbe Bahamas at BOND Nightclub, which is inspired by the best nightclubs of Las Vegas. The impressive 10,000 square-foot venue features a lush interior by Lenny Kravitz’s design house Kravitz Design, a state-of-the-art sound system, LED ceilings, full-service bars, and VIP bottle service. The glam, ultra-VIP party was replete with live entertainment and plentiful champagne.

A majestic Diner en blanc, SLS-style…

Saturday night was the final evening of the special event, and SLS Baha Mar was determined to make it a memorable one. Guests were asked to dress all in white for the SLS-style Diner en blanc. A giant communal table was set in the middle of Monkey Bar, transforming the space into a paradisiacal winter wonderland. The hotel chefs each served a different dish, resulting in a six-course meal paired with champagne, scrupulously selected wines, and cocktails. Special guests at this exclusive dinner included Bob Sinclair (seated next to me!) basketball megastar Michael Jordan, and Nicole and Ashley of Real Housewives of Miami fame. The all-white night ended with the star DJ playing a selection of his greatest hits and a firework show over the main pool.

A decadent, boozy brunch…

To end this delicious weekend in style, guests were invited to enjoy a decadent brunch at Cleo Restaurant, where once again no expense was spared. With a Laurent Perrier champagne bar, a station for mimosas and bloody Caesars, an oyster bar, a sushi bar (where sushi was prepared and served by chef Katsuya himself), a fresh fish station, and a gigantic fruit table, guests wrapped up Taste of sbe Bahamas in style. Because what better way to start your Sunday than brunch?

What we liked most about SLS Baha Mar

The first edition of Taste of sbe Bahamas was the perfect occasion to discover and explore the most recent and first international property of the SLS brand. And, we have to say that we were very impressed. Here are the top 3 things we liked most about SLS Baha Mar.

LuxeGetaways - Luxury Travel - Luxury Travel Magazine - Luxe Getaways - Luxury Lifestyle - Hotel - Caribbean - SLS Baha Mar - sbe tasteThe sexy, luxurious and bold guest rooms…

SLS Baha Mar’s 299 guest rooms and suites are absolutely wonderful and hard to forget. Featuring floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors with balconies that all offer ocean or beach views, each room is decorated with style and panache, reflecting the strong identity of the SLS brand. Guest rooms also feature heavenly bedding, Bahamian-designed furniture, plush SLS signature robes and slippers, and custom upscale Ciel Reserve bath amenities.

The amazing ESPA Spa experience…

ESPA is the ultimate spa experience, unfolding over 30,000 square feet of sheer relaxation, overlooking breathtaking white-sand beach and turquoise seas. The spa features 24 luxurious treatment rooms, saunas and steam rooms, relaxation zones, and experience showers. The “Relax” outdoor terrace offers unbeatable ocean views and luxurious lounge chairs on which to unwind before or after your treatment, and the 60-minute signature massage is one of the best I have received in a resort spa. ESPA is definitely in its own category and is absolutely a can’t-miss if you visit SLS Baha Mar.

The picture-perfect Privilege Pool…

This expensive day club is known for its weekend pool parties with over-the-top bottle service presentations, live DJs, and private cabana rentals that come with your own poolside concierge. Open to guests 18+, it’s the perfect place to try SLS Baha Mar’s specialty cocktails like the Blood Orange Margarita or Le Parisien Mojito. The poolside food menu is also hard to beat—in particular, the fruit platter is truly wonderful. Also, don’t forget to take a photo on the Cartier bicycle in front of the pool—and of course, dance like no one is watching.
