After an extensive five-month renovation, Vancouver’s premier retreat, Rosewood Hotel Georgia, has officially reopened, welcoming guests to its reimagined culinary concepts and serene accommodations. This grand reopening also marks the debut of The Georgia Bar, a new dining destination enriching the hotel’s robust culinary program and pays tribute to the iconic personalities who have graced its corridors since opening in 1927.

Upon arrival, guests will be greeted in the newly refreshed lobby and 1927 Lounge, which have been meticulously redesigned by Canada-based Ste. Marie Studio. This transformation pays homage to the hotel’s storied past, channeling the opulence of the Roaring 20s. The lobby exudes luxury with moody marbles, plush green velvets, and vibrant textiles, connecting the front desk with the 1927 Lounge. The bi-level 1927 Lounge offers a nostalgic nod to the nightlife of the bygone era, featuring fine dining, artisanal cocktails, and live performances from R&B, jazz, and soul artists.

The redesign of the Rosewood Hotel Georgia’s 156 rooms and suites was helmed by New York-based firm Lillian Wu Studio, who designed each space as a sensory experience. These accommodations feature intricate details like leather-wrapped accessories, plush tufted headboards, and hand-blown glass fixtures. These retreats offer a serene setting to unwind, with tranquil hues, patterned furnishings, and jewel-toned accents. The decor also pays tribute to the property’s unique location in Vancouver, including silver leaf-painted glass resembling the Pacific Dogwood, British Columbia’s provincial flower, and art curated by a local gallery.

“This is an incredibly exciting time for our associates and guests as it’s our first renovation of the hotel’s rooms and dining concepts in over 10 years,” said Abu Risheh, Managing Director at Rosewood Hotel Georgia, in a press release. “We are delighted to unveil our revitalized spaces and welcome back our neighbors and guests to discover Vancouver’s unique charm and rich history. Through our revitalized dining concepts especially, we hope to immerse our community in the city’s culture and diversity and foster meaningful connections between people and place.”

The new dining concepts at Rosewood Hotel Georgia include The Georgia Bar, 1927 Lounge, Prophecy, and Reflections Terrace, each offering a unique nod to Vancouver and the hotel’s storied past. The Georgia Bar, for example, embodies the hotel’s gilded Art Deco era with its dramatic U-shaped Arabescatto Orobico marble-top bar, stately mahogany-paneled walls, and marble checkerboard floors. The mixology program offers a journey through Rosewood Hotel Georgia’s heart with cocktails like the Patricia, a spirit-forward creation named after the Patricia Room, a dedicated space for HRH Edward, Prince of Wales, dating back to the original hotel’s grand opening. Another standout is The Herrick, a wine-based cocktail featuring elements of Earl Grey tea and Verjus Blanc, paying tribute to Fred Herrick, who served as the property’s shoe shiner for 54 years.

Prophecy, a new concept beneath the hotel, offers a sophisticated cocktail menu inspired by writers, poets, musicians, and artists. These sips are complemented by elevated, shareable dishes like the A5 Wagyu Katsu Sando. Following the opening of Prophecy is the reopening of Reflections Terrace, set to debut in late 2024. The restaurant will feature a new retractable roof and design elements inspired by Vancouver’s landscapes, providing a year-round dining destination for guests.

To further immerse visitors in the culinary prowess of Vancouver, Rosewood Hotel Georgia has curated a bookable Master Class series led by the hotel’s talented food and beverage team. Here, guests will be guided through Vancouver’s Granville Market, where they can hand-select locally sourced and hyper-seasonal ingredients. These ingredients are then transformed into a signature dish and a paired cocktail. For more information, visit rosewoodhotels.com.
