LuxeGetaways Magazine – Fall/Winter 2017 | Nestled into the heart of Napa wine country, Yountville is an adorably sophisticated, main-street kind of town that is filled with some of the world’s finest foods and wines. Only about an hour and a half drive from San Francisco, Yountville is within easy driving distance of some of the most notable wineries in the region, and also claims to have the highest concentration of Michelin-star restaurants per capita in the world (with five stars in six blocks!). Whether you are looking for a romantic destination, or a relaxing friend’s weekend, Yountville offers all the amenities and activities you would ever desire in a Napa getaway.

Start your stay at one of the unique accommodations in the area. Tucked a few blocks off the main street (but still well-within walking distance to all the main attractions), The Lavender — A Four Sisters Inn offers a quaint refuge for your stay. Guests are treated to a fenced in, villa-like room with a porch hot tub, enormous bathroom and cozy gas fireplace. And you may never want to leave thanks to the complimentary afternoon wine tastings in the garden courtyard; home-cooked breakfasts every morning; and the quiet, relaxing atmosphere.

For those wanting a resort atmosphere, the new Vintage Estate combines the Villagio Inn and Spa and the Vintage House to provide one impressive facility. With the ongoing renovations on both properties set to be completed in 2018, the expansive resort will offer a more modern room design, additional private suites, a fresh wedding venue and incredible amenities like The Spa at The Estate, Yountville that has been completely redesigned and features exclusive ESPA products.

Take an afternoon stroll around town, and visit one of the twelve wine tasting rooms along Washington Street, including Silver Trident Winery (where your tasting includes a small menu of perfectly paired canapés); and also the entirely family run Hill Family Estate. In between your tastings, visit one of the many boutiques and shops around the area (especially V Marketplace) to shop and perhaps add to your art collection or wardrobe.

For the active wine lover, be sure to sign up for a winery bike tour with Napa Valley Bike Tours – allowing yourself the opportunity to glide through the beautiful vineyard-lined roads of Napa Valley, with strategic stops along the way to taste from various wineries. Your guide will give you interesting local tidbits about the region, specific vineyards, and of course, Napa Valley wine.

For a truly unique Napa experience – and the most incredible view of California wine country – hop aboard a Napa Valley Aloft hot air balloon for a sunrise flight over Yountville. Arrive pre-dawn for a short briefing before boarding your assigned basket and floating thousands of feet in the air. After landing, join your new flight friends to receive your balloon “wings” at a champagne brunch to toast to your new experience. Yes, it is an early start to the day, but the views and overall experience completely make it worth that early wake-up call.

But no matter how you choose to spend your days in Napa, you will surely want to find your way into Yountville each evening to enjoy one of the many world-class dining options waiting to be discovered (and tasted) by you. Home to Thomas Keller’s iconic 3-star Michelin restaurant, The French Laundry provides an elevated dining experience that makes the most of the local ingredients when preparing this inventive cuisine. Yountville also boasts a number of single star Michelin restaurants including Bouchon and Redd. And even outside of the Michelin categories, Yountville visitors can still enjoy award–winning dinners at a myriad of other notable establishments – several favorites include Bottega and Bistro Jeanty.

Yountville makes a great destination year-around, but there are also several times of the year when the area really comes to life. The Holidays are celebrated between November 20, 2017 and January 1, 2018; and there is a full calendar of events, activities and performances for all ages – all enjoyed among the thousands of twinkling lights that make this the brightest town in Napa Valley. The Taste of Yountville is always a sold-out music, food and wine event, so do not miss the opportunity to plan ahead, and enjoy this event in March 2018.

Note: At the time of this release, California is still recovering from the horrible wildfires. We support the towns; wineries; and all the residents affected; and we encourage you to consider supporting the Napa Valley Disaster Relief Fund. Thank you.
