LuxeGetaways Magazine – Spring 2017 | Miami is always a fabulous destination to visit. Whether you are traveling for work or play, there is always something new to see, do, taste, and experience in this trendy South Florida hot spot. From the growing Wynwood and Design districts to the see and be seen allure of South Beach; the neighborhoods of Miami each provide something entirely unique to the locals and tourists — a record 15.8 million overnight visitors were welcomed by Miami-Dade County last year, so perhaps 2017 is the year to add Miami to your travel schedules.
With warm weather year-round, spring is a prime time to visit before the sizzling summer temperatures make an appearance. However, if you don’t visit until the summer months, it is still possible to avoid the heat by enjoying the area’s poolside cabanas, fine dining and a growing number of cultural offerings. Plus, you can get more for your buck during these months with extra happy hours throughout Miami and South Florida, and money-saving events like Miami Spa Month (July and August) and Miami Spice (August and September) when restaurants offer three-course meals featuring signature dishes created by world-renowned chefs at reduced prices.
For those preparing a visit to Miami, we wanted to provide the basic essentials for planning your ultimate getaway, and focus on the dining, shopping and other cultural activities available in Miami, Miami Beach and several of the surrounding areas in South Florida.

Know Before You Go…
Suggestions from our friends at the Marriott Stanton South Beach:
- Key Biscayne – Pack a picnic bag from the hotel’s Mexican restaurant Lolo’s Surf Cantina and head to the island of Key Biscayne – perfect for sunny beach days, turquoise water swims, and sunset bike rides.
- PAMM – For the couple who appreciates contemporary art. PAMM museum is an architectural beauty in itself with large hanging ivy pillars setting the tone for relaxed browsing of awesome artwork. Head outside to lounge in the suspended, hammock-like swings overlooking the sparkling Biscayne Bay.
- Brickell City Centre – This brand new, futuristic-styled shopping mecca is in the heart of Brickell – the high-rise, fast-pace business district of Miami. With 5.4 million sq. ft. of retail shops, restaurants and more, you are sure to find something special to buy your significant other while browsing the endless store options.
- The Grove – South Beach has great nightlife, but for singles looking to explore beyond the Beach, Coconut Grove is a great spot for bar-hopping (locals call it “The Grove”), and meeting new people.
- Wynwood – Eccentric nightlife scene with an artistic flair. Expect to meet and mingle with creative minds while exploring this art district. Make sure to check out the bars at night – Bardot is a favorite late-night spot among locals.
- Ball & Chain in Calle Ocho – A staple Miami experience in the historically Cuban district of Miami. Live Latin music and new friends await you on the dance floor, where salsa dancing is encouraged. Novice dancers, not to worry – there are plenty of guys and gals to teach the moves. Make sure to order a mojito (or two).
