Cabo San Lucas – one of the world’s most spectacular tropical getaways – is the jewel in the austere crown of Mexico’s Baja California Sur. Given its popularity, not to mention the ever-growing list of private jet charters available into both Los Cabos International Airport and Cabo San Lucas International Airport, there is no shortage of lavish destination resorts in the area.

However, there is only one hotelier that built three extravagant all-inclusive properties next door to each other along the water that allow guests to choose their own adventure in the region each day in Pueblo Bonito Resorts.

The name is Spanish for “beautiful town,” which is fitting given that Pueblo Bonito’s three sprawling properties – Pacifica Golf & Spa Resort, Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach, and Montecristo Estates – together feel like one is in their own beautiful town, albeit a town with 24-hour butler service, custom soap cutting, and some of the most lauded golf in North America.

Pueblo Bonito

Pacifica Golf & Spa Resort is the brand’s adults-only offering. Limited to guests 21 and over, it exudes elegance and boasts accessibility to a private beach, golf, and wellness-inspired spa. Smart travelers book its Towers at Pacifica, which is the resort’s hotel-within-a-hotel concept. The Towers is limited to just 47 suites – many with private plunge pools – and each suite is assigned a 24/7 butler who has been certified by the British Butler Institute. Guests in this elegant enclave enjoy epic oceanfront terraces with breathtaking views and exclusive access to a private tower. Within it, enjoy a private skybridge and oceanfront VIP lounge as well as the award-winning Península Restaurant, a chic open-air fine dining concept with ultra-fresh locally caught seafood and shellfish cooked utilizing authentic Baja techniques as well as ample cuts of steak sourced from the most lauded farms across the globe. Guests can expect a slew of surprises and experiences when staying in The Towers, most notably a customized soap ritual wherein the suite’s butler helps guide guests to cut their own personalized specialty suds. If looking to take it to another level, book the presidential suite within The Towers. This 3,233-sq.-ft. palace of perfection is an indoor-outdoor sanctuary with two bedrooms, multiple private terraces, outdoor hot tub and shower, firepit, full kitchen, and impressive wooden finishes.

Whether in the Towers or primary resort – also a stunner – all Towers guests have access to all the other epic eateries and mixology bars on property, notably Pescados, which specializes in elevating sashimi, maki, nigiri, and sushi to an art form, and Refresca, which is “the spot” in town for coveted and hard-to-find tequilas and mezcals. For the ultimate in romance – especially to celebrate an anniversary or in advance of a proposal – the resort can also set up a multi-course beachfront dinner at sunset, complete with a private DJ, photographer, custom cocktails, and more. Outside of fine dining, the tranquil resort boasts multiple sparkling pools, cabanas, beach beds, cooking classes utilizing ingredients from the resort’s own garden, and Armonia Spa. This 15,000-sq.-ft. metaphorical temple to all things well and being not only has traditional treatments and Baja-inspired healing journeys but also a “water journey” that takes guests through a circuit of water-themed experiences meant to reduce stress and prepare the body for the benefits of spa treatment.

Pueblo Bonito

While Pacifica is geared toward couples and adults seeking an exclusive escape, Sunset Beach – located next door and accessible to Pacifica guests via a short beach walk or quick shuttle ride, feels more for those traveling with their families. There are only suites on property by design, knowing families often need the extra space. Suites range from nearly 550 square feet to more than 1,100 square feet and all have separate living and dining spaces away from the bedroom(s). There are six pools on property, including a dedicated children’s pool as well as a massive kids club and daily activities for the little ones including arts and crafts, age-appropriate movies, and an arcade. Of course, there is also an Armonia Spa on property, which offers its own slew of treatments and water rituals.

Guests of Pacifica will want to visit this property for three primary reasons: Sky Pool, LaFrida, and Zao Shen. Sky Pool is an adults-only VIP rooftop experience unlike anything else in the area. It boasts a glistening pool overlooking the ocean from on high complete with cabanas, beach beds, and VIP bar and bottle service. Chilly out? There is also a sky-high spa with similar views. Then LaFrida and Zao Shen are the most impressive of eateries on property. LaFrida is among Cabo’s only AAA Four Diamond Award winners for excellence in cuisine and the ever-changing authentic Mexican fine dining menu features items like bluefin tuna tartare and totopo from Istmo with confit garlic puree, guajillo aioli, yuzu aioli, and peppermint powder; ribeye aguachile with habanero aioli and grilled lemon; and shrimp pithivier with forest mushrooms, sweet corn, and a reduction of crustaceans and truffles. Zao Shen is an elevated Asian fusion restaurant in which almost all ingredients are that one would fine in traditional Asian culture and cooked in a wok. The traditional Korean kimchi with fermented cabbage, gochutgaru, carrot, turnips, chives, and sesame seeds, as well as the red lobster with butter, caramelized vegetables, fried rice, wok Udon noodles, and garlic butter are of note.

Montecristo Estates offers something entirely different than both given the property is made up of free-standing villas, giving guests a true mansion along the water to enjoy all to themselves. Each three-bedroom villa features a private infinity pool, indoor and outdoor Jacuzzi, maid and butler service, and unlimited access to the restaurants and bars at Pacifica and Sunset Beach. Of course, private chef services are also available.

Each of the properties provides walking access and posh shuttle service to each other most hours of the day as well as dedicated service to the Cabo San Lucas Marina and downtown hotspots. The dedicated concierge and butler team at any of the resorts can create a custom itinerary and provide private transportation for myriad adventures and activities as well, from private catamarans, history tours, and SCUBA diving to waterfall rappelling, ziplining, and intimate whale watching. Insider tip: guests visiting during the winter and early spring are always witness to one of the most awe-inspiring seasonal attractions in North America in Cabo’s whale season. Mid-December through late April, humpback whales, gray whales, blue whales, fin whales, Bryde’s whales, and sperm whales are migrating through the area enjoying the warm water. Cabo’s calm waves also offer whales the perfect place for both breeding as well as giving birth to their calves.

Pueblo Bonito

All Pueblo Bonito guests also have access to the Steakhouse at Quivira, an unrivaled culinary masterpiece for carnivorous connoisseurs, as well as premium tee times at Quivira Golf Club, the challenging Jack Nicklaus Signature golf course at the tip of the Baja Peninsula conveniently located next to the Pueblo properties. Designed with ocean views on every hole, it takes pride in its challenging pin placement amid sandy dunes and grassy cliffs. The 7,-085-yard course, in fact, is among Golf Digest’s top-ranked golf experiences in the world.
