This iconic Washington, D.C. hotel will be celebrating its centennial next year, and they are taking a very unique approach that we appreciate at LuxeGetaways. Marriott Wardman Park hotel has been the place to “see and be seen” for decades, with a number of political meetings, glamorous weddings, esteemed social galas and so many important moments in our history happening within her walls. With so many memories being made here, it is also a documented fact that guests have taken a little something to remember their time at Marriott Wardman Park – a hand towel here, a teaspoon or teacup there, and other souvenirs over the years.
Marriott Wardman Park is located at 2660 Woodley Road at Connecticut Avenue, NW near a myriad of dining, and nightlife experiences in Washington DC’s Woodley Park, Adams Morgan and Dupont Circle. Among Washington, DC meeting hotels, the Washington Marriott Wardman Park rises above the rest. With a blend of charm, modern elegance and a historic landmark setting, this hotel’s 1152 guest rooms including 104 suites, 195,000 square feet of event space including 95,000 square feet of exhibit space; make it an ideal meetings and convention destination for world class events.
While the hotel is fine turning a “blind eye” to these items being taken from the hotel, they have decided that it is time for everyone to give them their stuff back, but not just the items – they want more. Through the end of the year, Marriott Wardman Park will be accepting this memorabilia, but also want the stories that go with them. With a hotel that has a rich hundred-year history, we love this concept, as we are sure that there are stories to tell first dates, weddings, meeting a famous politician, or perhaps a first trip to Washington, D.C. To celebrate its centennial, the hotel will use all the past memorabilia collected to create a permanent display in its lobby.
The hotel knows that with each item, there is a story to tell, and now you can “cash-in” on these stories (and the “borrowed” items!). Those with the best story (based on the judging criteria listed in the rules) submitted in print; will receive a two night weekend stay in the luxurious Langston Hughes Suite, as well as 500,000 Marriott Rewards points to create future cherished memories around the world. Points can additionally be used for money-can’t-buy experiences available on Marriott Rewards Moments or SPG Moments platforms. There, points, which can be transferred between loyalty accounts once linked, can be redeemed for exclusive experiences across different passion points around sports, food and entertainment. The winner will be announced in January 2018. No purchase necessary. Must be 18+. Ends 12/31/17.
Guests can deliver or send the items along with their stories to the hotel’s executive office:
