Many families are still seeking a unique travel adventure to enjoy together this summer, so we have created this international collection of five travel adventures that offer something for all desires and budgets. From educational and aquarium tours to behind-the-scenes studio experiences and bonfires on the beach, we have all the details you need to plan your family getaway…

1. Step Back In Time

Hotel Metropole Monte-Carlo offers the “Just For You” program, where young travelers are taken back in time with the Paleo Kids program. This includes a private tour of Monaco’s Prehistoric Anthropology Museum from an archeology scholar, an excavation workshop, lessons on how to light a fire using flint stone, and pottery/jewelry making classes. We suggest that you also inquire about the “Little Chefs” program. Throughout the year, Patrick Mesiano, Head Pastry Chef at the restaurant Joël Robuchon Monte-Carlo opens the kitchen doors to children from 6 to 10 years old. They can create any treat their hearts desire, and discover the joys of baking. On the program: cupcakes and customizing a chocolate egg.

2. Enjoy a Beach Bonfire

Millions of people hit the beach at some point during summer, but far fewer get to experience a beach bonfire. You can make the experience even sweeter by bringing the fixings for a family favorite – s’mores – along with you. Bonfires on the beach have long been a favorite tradition at Hotel del Coronado, Curio Collection by Hilton near San Diego, California. Now this toes-in-the-sand, fireside experience has gone gourmet, as guests tuck into beach sand chairs and choose from an a la carte menu of s’mores and other fireside favorites. To take advantage of your stay this season, inquire about their “Endless Summer” offer.

3. Kids Who Made American History

The Jefferson in Washington, D.C. is placing the vacation itinerary in the hands of young guests. Introducing a new walking guide “Kids Who Made American History,” the hotel invites youngsters to lead a day of sightseeing crafted by hotel historian and former Georgetown professor Susan Sullivan Lagon, Ph.D. Stops include touchpoints on “the smallest Freedom Fighter” Sheyann Webb, the location of transgender student Gavin Grimm’s Supreme Court trial on his school’s restroom use, and the US Capitol statue of Lewis and Clark’s young expedition leader, Sacagawea. Families can even borrow the hotel’s mascot, BobbleJeffDC, for photo-ops at each of these sites. Back at The Jefferson, kids have access to a special set of offerings including:

  • Mocktails and elevated kid favorites (e.g. truffle mac n’ cheese, bison sliders) at lounge Quill
  • Exclusive curated shelf of books by the likes of Eva Chen and Barack Obama in the Book Room
  • Specialty kids beverage cart for juice pairings with the Michelin-starred menu at Plume
