The Brenton Hotel is a beautiful new property located on the waterfront in the heart of downtown Newport, Rhode Island at 31 America’s Cup Avenue, and the corner of Long Wharf. Opened in July 2020, the locally owned Brenton Hotel evokes the feeling of an extravagant yacht with understated nautical-chic touches. Guests love the floor-to-ceiling windows throughout the public spaces and the guest rooms that offer panoramic views of the world-renowned harbor and historic cityscape. The hotel is distinctively Newport… from the travel experience to its architectural design. The 57 rooms and suites are among the most spacious in town.
“When our owners looked at an old warehouse on the corner of Long Wharf and American’s Cup Avenue, they knew from the beginning that they needed to build something that would honor the extraordinary location,” said Andy Ross, Managing Director of the Brenton Hotel. “A hotel was then conceptualized with design and architectural elements that would magnify the harbor and city views like floor to ceiling windows in every guestroom and public space. As locals, the owners also wanted to ensure that guests would be connected to Newport through every touch point of their experience, so it was equally important that the property was built, designed and managed by local Newporters.”
The hotel has created unique guest experiences that are socially distant and safe. These include a chance to sail on Brenton One, the hotel’s private 36’ Hinckley Picnic Boat that is ready to whisk guests away for private escapes and intimate sunset sails around the bay. Guests will receive advanced access to preferred tee times at the Newport National Golf Club. Regularly scheduled complimentary outdoor activities, led by local staff, include a guided run of Bellevue Avenue and a bike tour from Ocean Drive to Brenton Point State Park, which serves as the inspiration for the hotel’s name. Courtesy bikes are also available for use. Guests have access to the hotel’s two Peloton bikes which can be delivered for a fee to your rooms and reserved by the hour. The Brenton Hotel offers pet-friendly room accommodations and has partnered with local Lucky Dog Resort to provide pet concierge services such as pet sitting and dog walking.
