Perhaps I’m just old school, but I always look forward to stopping by the airport book store to pick up one of the latest best sellers to read on my journey. So I naturally love this newest luxury hotel amenity by Bedside Reading®, which places a wide variety of complimentary books (physical, ebooks and audiobooks) by the bedside in a number of our favorite hotel guestrooms nationwide. This program is still relatively new, but it already has an impressive roster of hotels – and I hear even more or eager to join the movement in Toronto and London. Bedside Reading® will also be providing one of the first gifts celebrities will receive at partner hotels in the Los Angeles area during the Awards Season.
How It Works
Founded in 2017, the Bedside Reading® program partners with the world’s leading publishers including Penguin Random House, HarperCollins, Macmillan, Simon & Schuster, and Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, as well as many others and independent publishers and authors. The company’s mission is to help authors build their fanbase by connecting their books to readers and providing hotel guests the opportunity to unplug and delve into the world of words at some of the most sought-after destinations.

The Bedside Reading® program provides each guest with a selection of complimentary books by the bedside. Books range from newly discovered authors and independent publishers to bestsellers and major publishers. Guest suites and rooms in participating hotels are stocked with exclusively curated titles that guests may enjoy and add to their personal libraries or leave for the next traveler. Genres include fiction, non-fiction, children’s, business and memoirs. The titles are renewed each month, keeping up with titles and authors sure to add enjoyment to the guest’s holiday or business trip.
2019 Awards Season Offerings
When guests (including nominees, celebrities and VIP’s) check into Los Angeles area partner-hotels, they will their find rooms adorned with specially curated books placed by the bedside. Hotel partners include: Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills, Hotel Casa del Mar, Shutters on the Beach, Fairmont Miramar Hotel & Bungalows, Chamberlain West Hollywood and more.
Participating authors include: Diane Capri (Fatal Dawn, Ten Two Jack and Wasted Justice), Michelle Francis, (The Temp), Paula Munier (A Borrowing of Bones) Jon James Miller (Looking for Garbo) TW Neal (Freckled), Margaret Porter (Beautiful Invention: A Novel of Hedy Lamarr), Elizabeth S. Moore by (Man on the Middle Floor) and Rebecca Yarros (The Last Letter).
Authors’ Book Signing Program
The Authors’ Book Signing program provides guests with the opportunity to meet the authors currently featured in partner hotels. The program kicked off with its first author event with a book signing and author discussion, Saturday, February 2nd in New York’s Southampton Inn, featuring Jill D. Block, author of The TRUTH about parallel lines. Additional 2019 Bedside Reading® Book Signing events at Southampton Inn are as follows: Saturday, March 2nd – Amy Impellizzeri, author of Why We Lie, Friday, April 5th – A.F. Brady, author of Once A Liar and Saturday, May 4th, – Matt Coyle, author of Wrong Light.
In addition to the book signing, attendees are welcome to join the authors for a prix fixe dinner following the events at Southampton Inn’s award-winning restaurant, Claude’s. Special weekend packages are also available so reach out to them to find out all of the details.

The program also crossed the country on February 8th to the Fairmont Miramar Hotel & Bungalows in Santa Monica with author T.W. (Toby) Neal, author of Freckled and then at Morrison House in Alexandria, VA beginning in March, guests can enjoy Night Justice by Diane Capri, Come Home by Patricia Gussin, Freckled by TW (Toby) Neal, and Depth of Winter by Craig Johnson (audiobook).
