When we think of South Florida, most of us typically think of Miami Beach. However, we sometimes crave something else, something different, something funkier. The Diplomat Beach Resort (called the Dip for those in the know) offers a playful luxury setting, 50,000 square feet of private beach, two beachfront pools and oversize rooms that offer balconies with water views. Oh, and buzzing Miami is only 20 minutes away if you need to get your Miami fix…
My recent stay in Hollywood, Florida convinced the Miami aficionada that I am that there is a lot of added value to stay and play just steps outside of the action. Well, okay, it was all about the Diplomat to be honest, but the hotel itself is a strong selling point. Here are the 5 things I liked most about the experience.
1. The Diplomat Beach Resort | Beachfront Corner Suites
Let’s all admit it, if we go to the beach, we want to see the beach, all day, every day. That being said, we can all appreciate that almost every room at the Diplomat offers water views, large balconies (a novelty in Miami Beach, in comparison), while every room and suite features floor-to-ceiling windows, a new and sexy beach-luxe interior design and oversize bathrooms with separate deep-soaking bathtubs (yes, please!). The Beachfront Corner Suite is spectacular, complete with beachfront views from every angle, a spacious living and dining area, a wraparound terrace, an airy and luxurious design and oversize bathroom and walk-in closet.
2. The Diplomat Beach Resort | Sexy Sun Beds
The recently refurbished and rebranded resort now offers a funky and playful design that plays with the themed color: fuchsia. The umbrellas, cabanas and sun beds are totally Instagram-worthy and perfect to enjoy the beach or the pool, but also perfect for an improvised photoshoot. Good thing that the resort spreads out over 50,000 square feet along the Atlantic with beach and poolside service for your favorite cocktails and bites, regardless of where you choose to sit and soak in the Florida sun.
3. The Diplomat Beach Resort | Counter Point Coffee
I have to say that I spent more time at Counter Point Coffee during my stay than I should probably admit. Coffee is often the downside of most resorts, while it is oh-so important. Fortunately, a growing number of resorts are beginning to take their coffee game seriously, but it is still too rare. I was a huge fan of Counter Point Coffee for their delicious coffee and juices. Offering espresso drinks, coffee, tea and a daily selection of house-baked breakfast pastries, salads, and sandwiches, it was, without a doubt, my go-to for the few days I was at the resort.
4. The Diplomat Beach Resort | Beachfront Pools & Waterfalls
I love the beach, but sometimes I don’t want to deal with the sand. Therefore, it was nice to be able to enjoy the swanky pool setting at The Diplomat without neglecting the beach. The resort’s signature infinity pool features two waterfalls and is adjacent to a lagoon pool that is perfect to soak up the end-of-day sunset and, of course, the cabanas – while all being beachside and keeping those priceless beach views within sight!
5. The Diplomat Beach Resort | Prime Steakhouse Restaurant
To be honest, the restaurant scene in Hollywood, Florida, is not that exciting. But, within the resort, we eat very well, and with 8 different restaurant options, everyone can certainly find something that is sure to exceed their desires and expectations. DIPLOMAT PRIME is the resort’s signature steakhouse, offering a carefully curated menu that features in-house dry-aged steaks along with local, seasonal seafood dishes for those looking for non-steak options. Impeccable execution from both the kitchen and the bar makes Diplomat Prime one of the top steakhouses in South Florida since it opened in 2002.
