This season, The Saxon unveils a new selection of culinary highlights and offerings. LuxeGetaways was excited to learn more about these new offerings that we wanted to share with you…

The Royal Treatment with Morning or Afternoon Tea

The elegant ritual of morning or afternoon Tea is one of Saxon’s specialties, and one of their most loved traditions. Offered in the Piano Lounge, guests can take time out after a busy day exploring the city to indulge in a selection of delicately handcrafted sweet and savory treats and choose from the wide selection of loose-leaf teas from the international brand, Ronnenfelt. New highlights of the menu include a selection of finger sandwiches with classic favorites like smoked salmon, with sour cream and dill on seeded loaf, in addition to high tea favorites such as macarons, citrus eclairs, cheesecake mousse, coconut and pineapple verrine, and more. On Saturdays, the popular tea party features a live pianist.

Signature Dishes at Qunu

The elegant Qunu restaurant at Saxon features an innovative menu with bold flavors using only the finest South African cuts of meat, the freshest fish, handpicked seasonal ingredients and carefully selected produce from local artisans. Every morning, produce is handpicked from Sarapana – Saxon’s fruit, herb and vegetable garden – and featured across the menu to showcase the home-grown seasonal favorites. This season’s new offerings include Ravioli of truffle potato with duck egg, bacon and brie cheese or a butter-poached lobster with asparagus, paw-paw, edamame and bonito butter topped off with salmon roe. For dessert, The Saxon Torte is a must. The restaurants are overseen by Executive Chef Jane-Therese Mulry.
