Over the past two years, the ownership group of The DoubleTree by Hilton Houston Downtown has been conceptualizing and finessing a project that will serve as a social anchor and hospitality gateway for the landmark Allen Center. The C. Baldwin – a high end and hyper-localized, independent hotel slated for a summer 2019 debut – honors the brash and fiercely independent Charlotte Baldwin Allen, The Mother of Houston, who used her inheritance to finance the City of Houston.

“We felt it was high time to introduce a hospitality experience that would truly embody one of our country’s most evolving destinations while honoring an awe-inspiring female pioneer,” said Maggie Rosa, General Manager, C. Baldwin.

The C. Baldwin aims to pay homage to it’s namesake – the deedless developer, brand-wielding cattle rancher, brash businesswoman and tireless philanthropist. The prime property is being completely reimagined and rebuilt in a style befitting the independently determined visionary, Charlotte Baldwin Allen.

Boasting 354 stylishly inspired guest rooms, over 14,000 square feet of meeting space, a signature restaurant, a luxury nail salon, curated local retailers, and an activated green space in the heart of the city’s core business and entertainment district, the transformative property will offer travelers the opportunity to discover an authentically sophisticated and modern Houston experience when it launches in early summer 2019.

More than 180 years in the making, the new hotel designed by internationally acclaimed Lauren Rottet of Houston-based Rottet Studio as well as Kate Rohrer of ROHE Creative will boldly stake its claim as the centerpiece of modern Houston and become a focal point of the reimagined 3.2-million-square-foot Allen Center. Phase I of the Allen Center project was unveiled in fall 2017, while the next phases encompass the addition of retail and restaurant tenants plus building upgrades and amenity enhancements that foster a pedestrian-friendly environment.

Ideally situated on the western edge of Downtown at Allen Parkway, just steps from Sam Houston Park and the Main Street METRORail line (with access to the Museum District), an unrivaled location will give C. Baldwin the opportunity to tell her story – and the city’s – to in-the-know locals, savvy business travelers and adventurous tourists seeking an authentic, bold and soulful representation of the city of Houston.
