Aman Resorts is expanding its presence in the United States with the announcement of Amansanu, a new resort and residential development in the Texas Hill Country, northwest of Austin. Revealed on April 23, the project marks Aman’s sixth U.S. destination, encompassing both currently open and in-development properties. It also introduces the brand’s first ranch-inspired concept, signaling a new direction for Aman in the Americas.

The name Amansanu is derived from Sanskrit and translates to “peaceful peak,” aligning with the brand’s longstanding philosophy of creating serene, design-forward retreats rooted in their surroundings. Under the leadership of Vlad Doronin, Aman has continued to prioritize destinations defined by natural beauty and cultural depth. Texas Hill Country, known for its rolling landscapes and strong regional identity, fits within that framework and offers a new geographic and cultural context for the brand.

A Pavilion-Based Design by Olson Kundig

Amansanu marks the first ground-up collaboration between Aman and Olson Kundig. The resort is being designed as a collection of standalone pavilions, a layout that reinforces privacy while allowing each structure to engage directly with the surrounding terrain. This low-density approach is consistent with Aman’s design philosophy, emphasizing space, discretion, and a strong connection to the natural environment.

The architecture is expected to incorporate natural materials and open-plan interiors, with an emphasis on blending indoor and outdoor living. While specific design details have not been fully released, the overall concept focuses on integrating the built environment into the landscape rather than imposing upon it. The result is intended to reflect both Aman’s minimalist sensibility and the character of Texas Hill Country.

Aman Residences with Significant Land Holdings

The development will include a limited number of Aman-branded residences, each situated on expansive hillside parcels starting at 10 acres. These residences are planned as fully serviced homes, offering access to the resort’s amenities while maintaining a high degree of privacy and autonomy.

Design plans call for open layouts, natural materials, and outdoor terraces oriented toward valley views. While additional specifications have not been formally confirmed, the scale of the land parcels distinguishes the offering within the ultra-luxury residential market. The residences are positioned as an extension of the resort experience, combining private ownership with Aman’s service and operational standards.

Wellness, Dining, and a Contemporary Ranch Experience

Amenities at Amansanu will include a central lodge, multiple dining venues, and an Aman Spa and Wellness Center positioned along a natural creek. These elements form the core of the guest experience, balancing communal spaces with the brand’s emphasis on privacy and tranquility.

The project will also introduce Aman’s first fully serviced stables, alongside racquet courts and an extensive network of hiking trails. These features define what the brand calls a “contemporary ranch experience,” integrating outdoor recreation directly into the resort’s identity. The inclusion of equestrian facilities represents a notable expansion of Aman’s traditional programming.

Part of a Growing Americas Pipeline

Amansanu is part of a broader expansion strategy across the Americas. Additional projects in development include Amanvari on Mexico’s East Cape, Amancaya in the Bahamas, as well as Aman Beverly Hills and Aman Miami Beach. These properties (alongside a luxury cruise ship) are in various stages of development and have not yet opened, but collectively reflect Aman’s continued investment in key luxury markets across the region.
